Spring Hue: Cobalt Blue
Everywhere I go, I see at least one girl dressed in this season's it color Mint/Seafoam; and while seafoam is a lovely color, there's another bolder color that'll steal the attention from all the minty girls out there: COBALT BLUE.
The deep, rich hue contrasts nicely in the sea of mint, and it's all over the runway for Spring/Summer 2013. Cobalt is flattering, summery, bold; and it is beautiful whether it's an accessory, printed, monochromatic, or colorblocked!

Next time you go out, opt to stand out in Cobalt rather than being a part of the Seafoam Sea.

White Out
Head-to-toe white is cropping up everywhere as an exciting Spring Trend. It is feminine, classy, immaculate and of course, fashionable. It might seem too intimidating, but it's a look anyone can pull off, no matter what your style is.
How to (correctly) wear all white:
1. Wear Different Shades of White together
2. Mix Textures
3. Add Metallic Accents
4. Style with Pops of Color, Nude or Animal print Accessories
5. Add notes of black or grey
The best part of this monochromatic style is that you can really experiment with different cuts and styles of clothing since color and print won't get in the way. So you can create really interesting silhouettes and really mix textures to transform your outfit.
Another plus is you can play with with your make up (hot pink lips, anyone?) and colorful accessories without making your outfit too busy.

Just a quickie post:
I turned a wonderful Urban Renewal find into a one-of-a-kind denim vest.
I just cut the sleeves and the bottom off, and then I frayed the edges. and VOILA! a new denim vest that no one else has.
Best of all, it cost me less than $10!

What I'm Doing
I've always had an interest in fashion - or at least ever since I pitched a fit at my 4th birthday about wanting to wear the pink sparkly dress, even though we were going to Chuck E. Cheese.
Point is, I love fashion, clothes and shopping, but I can't afford to buy all the things I want. So I'll live out my shopping addiction vicariously through this blog.
These are the things I want to include:
- Trends - I want to tell you what I think is going to be (or already is) a big thing.
- Celebrity Looks for less - because let's face it, we can't all buy a hella-tight Gucci t-shirt for $50.
- OOTD - which will probably be OOTW.. so don't expect that too often
- Make up and Hair - I mean, I'm a Sephora VIB for a reason, yeah?
- Runway/Event - such as the Academy Awards tomorrow night!
and yes I realize all of these things are basic "fashion blog" things
So that brings me to what makes my blog unique:
I live in Knoxville, TN. From the outsider's perspective, we can't possibly have fashion or style down here in little, ol' Knoxville. But we do! We are a (LIBERAL) college town with a thriving downtown and "Old City" scene. Hey, if you don't believe me, just know, Urban Outfitters and Anthropology have deemed us worthy of their stores.
I want to capture the street style of Knoxville; therefore, I promise to carry a (nice, Canon) camera around so when I come across stylish, interesting and fashionable people, I will ask them if I may take a picture, and then it will most definitely go on this blog.
streetKnox is about Knoxville's street style, because, ya know, no matter where we are, the street is our runway.
I don't do fashion, I am fashion.

SPRING TREND REPORT:
The weather is slowly warming up here in Knoxville, and stores are beginning to stock up on warm weather wear like sandals. The latest trend is countering the last few seasons' gladiator sandals with a simpler silhouette and opposing the vertical lines of the T-strap sandals. The ankle-cuffed shoe is happening right now:
Realove Steve Madden $79.95 SteveMadden.com |
Enzo Angiolini $99 bloomingdales.com |
And yes, I totally bought Realove this past winter, because every girl needs a simple, sexy shoe!
Although all sorts of ankle-strapped sandals are cropping up, my favorite thus far is definitely the clear strapped ones. These shoes are ultra sexy with clean lines and nearly- nude feet.
1. $20 Forever21 (more colors available) 2. $35 Forever21
3. Manolo Blahnik 4. Givenchy 5. $125 Jeffrey Campbell
3. Manolo Blahnik 4. Givenchy 5. $125 Jeffrey Campbell
And if you're not into the ankle-strap shoe or want to spice it up, here a few other takes on the emerging Transparent trend:
1. Stuart Weitzman 2. $100 Cheap Monday 3. Valentino
4. $135 Jeffrey Campbell (more colors available) 5. $135 Dune
Considering I'm broke-ass college student, I was more than ecstatic to get my hands on the $20 pair of clear-strap flats from Forever21. Pictures to come. In the meantime, I anxiously await my new shoes!
